  The museum owns collections of the boat equipment and devices, weapons and navigation equipment, medals, ship models, uniforms and equipment, artifacts etc. together with archive and bibliographic material stock.

      Very important part of exibition is a setting towards real-life situations. Therefore fisherman boat, dock, windows, few types of entry doors and city well where women used to collect water, have been assembled.

    One of the oldest museums in Croatia and the only one that engages in research, collection, presentation and study of material and spiritual remains of the Croats in the Middle Ages, i.e. from 7th-15th c. particularly from the time of the Early medieval Croatian state from the 9th-12th century.

Today’s selection of museums exibitions is a chronological companion through the long history and structural development of Split through architectural, cultural and artistic activities. Since the year 2002, a museum setting includes a new gallery space where exibitions of various content take place.

The museum hosts exibitions not only on city of Split and other towns of Croatia, but also in foreign museum establishment and other cultural institutions.

 Guided group visits take place daily during the working hours. Previous unnouncment and reservation at the phone number 0217 344-917 is necessary.

 It is not allowed to use cameras in the museum without previous notification. It is forbidden to use artificial lights.

 Parking place is 200 meters from Museum.

 Museum Library is open from 10-13h.
